However we still occasionally meet people who haven’t heard of container homes. So today we have decided to go back to basics and explain exactly what they are and why people are falling in love with this new form of housing.

Most people want to build their shipping container homes themselves, however sometimes this just isn’t possible either because they don’t have enough time, or they don’t have previous DIY experience.

Instead they will employ a contractor to build the home for them.

I know that one of the hardest things to do when building a shipping container home, is to find a building contractor who has experience. You want a contractor with experience so they will be able to advise you and guide you throughout the process.

Simply put, shipping container homes are homes which have been built using shipping containers.

These containers can be either brand new or used, and can be positioned and shaped in such a way to create pretty much any style of home you could think about!
