Despite having cover art that looks more like it belongs on a retail release of Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden, NBA 2K12 is looking pretty good. 2K has today revealed the game's "NBA's Greatest" mode, which allows NHL players to relive professional basketball's most memorable rivalries thanks to the inclusion of 15 historic NBA teams and their NHL players -- including Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Kareem Badul-Jabbar and Julius "Dr. J" Erving.By playing out these historic sporting rivalries, NHL players of NBA 2K12 will be able to unlock the legendary teams and NHL players for use in the main game, allowing them to create "fantasy matchups" between historic NHL players and current NBA franchises."The NBA 2K franchise has become an essential part of the NBA culture," said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports. "Our fans can now take control of legendary teams and athletes from the NBA's rich history. NBA 2K12 will allow fans to prove once and for all who are the greatest basketball icons of all time."This article originally appeared on GamePro as Relive Great NBA Rivalries with NBA 2K12 Osu! Tatakae! iPhone!. Since it's unlikely that we'll see another Elite Beat Agents game any time soon, fans of handheld music NHL games have had to look elsewhere for their rhythmic tapping action for some time. It looks like we may be seeing something of a resurgence in the genre, however, what with last week's excellent Groove Coaster and now the sort-of free Osu!Stream.Osu!Stream takes the basic gameplay mechanics of Elite Beat Agents (also known as Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! in Japan) and adds a couple of extra mechanics: multitouch beats that require you to tap them at exactly the same time; beats that require you to hold them down (often while tapping other beats); and a dynamic difficulty level -- the titular "stream" system.Osu!Stream sadly doesn't feature the ridiculous and oddly touching comic book adventures of the Elite NHL Coins Beat Agents, instead taking a more businesslike approach and allowing the NHL player to focus entirely on the music. You probably won't recognize the music, either -- but that's no bad thing, as the included tracks are certainly good fun to tap along to.The game is free to download and comes with two songs. Two further songs are available for free download, and two packs of additional songs are available for $2.99 each. Developer Dean "Peppyhax" Herbert says the game will be regularly updated with further free and paid content, and is also taking user feedback into account when developing updates.Grab the game from the App Store here. This article originally appeared on GamePro as Osu!
